Making Sushi Vinegar
It’s all about the balance!
Maki Roll
Your first step - how to make the humble cucumber maki. Master the art and technique of rolling the Maki and the world is your oyster!
California roll
Just to confuse you, you have to turn the maki roll inside out and fill it with lemon-scented tuna with Japanese mayonnaise, we love to partner that with creamy avocado and sprinkle the rice with loads of toasted black and white sesame seeds. If you like a crunch, add thinly sliced cucumbers…
Temaki
This is a seaweed cone rolled by hand and filled with sushi rice, creamy avocado, crab stick and cucumber with lashings of Japanese mayo.
Nigiri
Moulded by hand, these finger-shaped sushis topped with smoked salmon and Japanese sweet omelette slices.
Onigiri
Not officially classified as Sushi, but such a versatile rice ball dish to learn, it can be eaten as a snack and the perfect alternative to the sandwich at lunchtime! Practise moulding it by hand into a pyramid shape or use an Onigiri mould. You can eat the rice ball on its own with a dipping of soya sauce or fill it with Teriyaki chicken.
Tamagoyaki
Really not a Sushi, this Japanese sweet rolled omelette is often seen in a Bento box as an accompaniment to complete a meal. We are making it to go on top of our Nigiri sushi.
All served with sushi soy sauce, pickled ginger, wasabi, and a pair of chopsticks!
