Pomelo

Pomelos are in season! This has to be the juiciest, freshest pomelo I’ve had in all my 34 years living in Bury.

I bought it from Kitchen Kave on Brentgovel Street, just opposite St Edmunds Butcher.

Pomelo tastes similar to grapefruit, but it’s less sour and far less bitter. And when you get a good one (like this!), it’s incredibly juicy, naturally sweet, and wonderfully refreshing.

Top tip: pick the heaviest pomelo in the batch — that’s the one packed with juice. If it feels very light, it’s likely to be dry.

With flu and cold season around, pomelo is especially worth eating. In traditional Chinese food therapy, it’s considered a cooling fruit, believed to help clear heat and reduce phlegm — perfect after rich food or when you’re feeling under the weather. #pomelo #traditionalchinesemedicine #asianfood #suffolk #delicious
